Experience...
The best of live folk and independent music in a unique and intimate venue!
St. Barnabas is now hosting a series of "Coffeehouse Concerts" (which had formerly been "KingsLight House Concerts".) We are bringing in some of the best singer/songwriter - folk performers from the national touring circuit to play in the intimate atmosphere of our parish hall... set up a bit like a living room with some comfy couches / chairs and tables (sometimes though, for various reasons, the concerts are held in the church sanctuary -which is also a very nice, non-intimidating space).
The cost usually varies between $10 and 12 per person and we sometimes can offer discounts to children and seniors. We also have snacks / drinks and of course, coffee - also for a small donation. These concerts are for the whole community... anyone can come. We hope you will make St. B's Coffeehouse Concerts part of your cultural / fellowship life.
RESERVATIONS are highly encouraged to ensure a place to sit -- please call 269-760-1950.
Concerts usually start at 7:30 PM and run about 2 hours (unless otherwise indicated). Doors open 1/2 hour before concert time.

Buddy Mondlock May 23, 2010 3:00pm

Buddy Mondlock writes songs. He does it so well that some great songwriters have recorded his songs on their own albums. Guy Clark, Nanci Gri
ffith and Janis Ian, to name just a few. But there’s nothing like hearing the guy who wrote ‘em sing ‘em. He’s not going to pin your ears back with those songs. He’s going to draw you into his world. Where a single snowflake follows the trajectory of a relationship, where you get your pocket picked by a Roman cat, where you might swim over the edge of the world if you’re not careful and where dreams that don’t come true still count. And it can all be happening in a little folk club or on a stage by a grassy hill or in someone’s living room or in the Royal Albert Hall.
It was Guy Clark who first discovered Buddy playing under a tree at the Kerrville Folk Festival in 1986. Guy went back to Nashville, opened the door and yelled, "Pay attenton y'all, this kid's good." Soon after, Buddy was driving a U'Haul south from his native Chicago. A publishing deal with EMI was waiting. In the years that followed, cuts with the likes of Garth Brooks, Joan Baez and David Wilcox cemented his reputation as a songwriter. Peter, Paul and Mary recorded his song, "The kid" and he sang it with them on their 1996 PBS Television special. But Buddy never considered just laying back and writing songs for others. The joy he takes in singing and playing for folks shines through in his performance and his audiences take that with them.
And although never one to rush things, he's accumulated a string of critically acclaimed cd's including 2002's "Everything Waits To Be Noticed," a writing and recording collaboration with Maia Sharp and Art Garfunkel. His latest, "The Edge of the World," is his most personal recording to date and has been well recieved by reviewers and DJs as well as fans. "I think Mondlock is one of the greats on the contemporary music scene," says Roberta Schwartz in her FAME review. "And I hope that he has many more songs to write and stories to tell."
